Salmon River Community Church
Riggins, ID
Thank you for taking the time to read this brief description of our position opening and our church/community.
We are a quaint little church in a rural community that is seeking a Teaching Elder/Pastor who meets the requirements that are laid out by Paul in Titus 1 and 2 along with 1 Timothy 3. We are opening a search for a teaching elder/pastor to serve alongside our established council and to provide visionary leadership to our church board and ministry leaders.
Salmon River Community Church was founded in 1959 as a non-denominational community church. Attendance for our worship services average between 65-100. These numbers reflect both members and regular attending non-members, as well as our kids.
Our little town of Riggins is surrounded by a picturesque backdrop of deep mountain canyons with both the Main and Little Salmon Rivers flowing nearby and the Snake River just to the west. Riggins is known as the "The Whitewater Capital" of Idaho. Our mountains offer abundant recreational opportunities and are also abounding with a wide variety of wildlife. This being said, we are a tourist magnet. We are located 150 miles north of Boise and 110 miles south of Lewiston. Riggins itself boasts an in-town population of roughly 400, but provides services for about 2,000, which includes those who live beyond the city limit signs. We operate both inside and outside of the four walls that we meet within. Our members play very integral roles within our community. Riggins is the home of Salmon River School District #243, the mighty Salmon River Savages, which has a student population of around 140 students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
