New Song Christian Fellowship
Gunnison, CO
Description
New Song Christian Fellowship, an independent, non-denominational church, is seeking a Pastor with a vision, heart, and passion for long-term ministry in the small beautiful mountain community of Gunnison, Colorado.
This man of God will be a servant-leader with a shepherd’s heart and a desire to lead, minister to, and serve alongside our church family of approximately 25 people as we continue to grow and impact our community for Christ. We are open to either a full-time pastor or a bi-vocational pastor who is willing to move into a full-time position as our church family grows.
Overview of Community and Church
Gunnison is a rural mountain community of approximately 7,000 located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. It is also home to Western Colorado University. The area offers unlimited year-round outdoor activities. Gunnison is a tight-knit community with a ranching background and a love for both community and the outdoors.
New Song Christian Fellowship is a Christ-centered, Gospel-sharing, community of believers with a heart for lost souls both locally and around the world. We have been actively involved in the Gunnison Valley community since the ‘70s and have seen the size of our congregation both rise and fall during this time. We have a regular attendance of 25-35 and have had as many as 100+ over the years. Our mission is to be a loving community centered on Jesus and it is well said of New Song that, “We are family like no other church!” We firmly believe God is already preparing the heart of our next Pastor.
Pastoral Responsibilities
The Pastor will be committed to Biblically sound preaching and teaching of the Word of God that edifies and challenges established believers and also draws unbelievers and those new in the faith to a deeper walk with Jesus.
He will support and strengthen the flock by developing relationships with church family members; shepherding and providing pastoral care; performing funerals, weddings, baptisms, child dedications, etc.; and providing counseling within his capabilities or referring people to other professionals/resources, as needed.
He will work with the Elders/leaders to ensure the planning and implementation of meaningful Sunday worship services, all tasks related to the overall operation of the church are covered by staff/volunteers, and the church is healthy and growing.
He will intentionally engage with community outreach, seek to interact with non-believers, encourage the church family to follow his example in these areas, and engage with local pastors as opportunities arise.
He will promote and uphold New Song’s statement of faith, core values, and mission while casting vision for leading New Song into a healthy, growing, impactful future.
Other responsibilities may be undertaken based on personal giftings, desires, and evolving church needs.
Pastoral Attributes
We are seeking a Pastor who is a servant-leader, has a shepherd’s heart, is sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and is committed to helping fulfill the Great Commission.
He will have leadership and administrative skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities. He will be an independent, creative thinker with a heart for collaboration as he works with and encourages New Song Elders and the congregation in church ministries, decision-making, and direction. He will be willing to both provide and receive feedback as it relates to personal and church family growth and should have the confidence, humility, grace, and wisdom to resolve differences in a Biblically-based manner.
He will be someone who loves people; listens well; encourages, challenges, and mentors others; treats everyone with respect; and has a passion for encouraging spiritual growth. His desire will be to help others know, love, and serve Christ. He will desire to be relationally connected to the New Song fellowship and enjoy both working together with us, and taking part in recreational activities with us in the beautiful valley we are blessed to call home.
He will be a man who loves God and pursues Jesus with passion. This will be evidenced by a strong personal relationship with Christ, an intentional time of personal devotion in the Word, and a commitment to ongoing spiritual development. He will be a man of spiritual maturity, integrity, humility, and financial responsibility. He will have a healthy, positive family relationship and his family will love, honor, respect, and uphold him. He will have a strong moral character and be highly respected in the local community.
He will have a commitment and heart to invest in our church family and the local community for the long-term. He does not see this ministry opportunity simply as a first-step to something ‘bigger and better’ in another location. He will have a heart for both the saved and the unsaved and will desire to share Christ with others and encourage the local fellowship to do likewise. He will foster growth at the local level and also have a heart for our missionaries serving both nationally and overseas.

The Pastor will meet all Scriptural requirements of an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5.
He will preferably be a graduate of an accredited Bible School or Seminary.
