Position Type: Part-time, approximately 20 hours/week
Reports To: Church Elders
Compensation: $25,000/year salary

We are a small close-knit, established Christian congregation located in Fairbanks, AK. We are currently looking to step outside our walls, increase our visibility, and build genuine relationships with the community around us and grow our congregation.
Role Summary
The Community Outreach Coordinator serves as the bridge between Farewell and our surrounding community. Your primary goal is to increase community awareness of our church and foster meaningful connections with our community. You do not need to build massive, expensive programs; rather, you will focus on relational outreach, grassroots visibility, and empowering our congregation to engage with their neighbors.
Anticipated Duties
Community Presence & Networking
● Identify and attend local meetings or events that aligned with Christian values.
● Identify and build relationships within our community to discover how our church can serve existing community needs.
● Assist with management of FACC’s social media accounts.
● Coordinate follow-up efforts to ensure visitors and community contacts feel welcomed and invited to future church gatherings.
Congregational Engagement
● Participate in weekly Sunday services.
● Engage with our congregation, matching their unique gifts and availability with local outreach opportunities.
● Keep the congregation informed about community needs during Sunday announcements or via church newsletters.
● Foster a culture of invitation and hospitality.
● Establish and provide regular office hours (6 hours/week)
Qualifications & Skills
● Faith & Character: A committed Christian who aligns with the theological beliefs, values, and vision of Farewell.
● Relational Drive: Highly approachable, warmly outgoing, and comfortable initiating conversations with strangers and community leaders.
● Self-Starter: Because we are a small church, this role requires a proactive individual who can cast a vision and take initiative without needing micromanagement.
● Resourceful: Ability to plan creative, impactful outreach initiatives on a small church budget.
● Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a basic understanding of social media management.
● Team Player: Loves working in a tight-knit, family-like church environment.
