PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
 
 
**Principal Function** The pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach from the Bible, to engage in pastoral care ministries, to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life, and to be the church representative in the community.
 
**Church Vision: **A church community where our love for the Lord and His love for us is always felt and shared within and beyond our doors. 
Daily striving to fulfill the two greatest commandments given to us by Christ as written in Matthew 22: 37, 40:
To love God with all our heart, soul, and mind
To love our neighbor as ourselves
 
Accountability To:      Church, Board of Directors
 
Description: The Minister has primary responsibility for preaching and teaching the Word of God and to provide leadership, shepherding and vision to the Body in partnership with the Church Board and the Congregation.
 
**Qualifications **
1. Maintains a non-condemning attitude with high moral standards.
2. Passionately embodies God’s word and lives out the gospel in his daily life.
3. Shows a deep commitment to Christ and has His heart for all people.
4. As a baptized believer, fully understands and supports the scripture-based doctrine of the Restoration Movement.
5. Consistent spiritual moral character and lifestyle.
6. Competent in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships.
7. Potential and desire to remain in a long-term ministry at SMBCF.   
8. Strong in biblical and expository preaching.
9.  Computer proficient, able to relate to and participate in social media in a manner that promotes, engages, and encourages the Congregation and others receiving the message
10. Ordained or eligible to be ordained as a Christian Minister. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of ministry (M Div. preferred).
**Responsibilities**:
·      Develop leadership through teaching, training and personal example.
·      Consistently preach Bible-based message that is engaging, relevant and challenges those who hear to seek or deepen their relationship with Jesus.
·      Provide a focus on spiritual growth, discipleship and Christian community.
·      Ensure that the sanctuary is ready for weekly services.
·      Oversee day to day operation of the church.
·      Counsel, as appropriate, make hospital calls and pastoral visits, as needed.
·      Conduct wedding ceremonies and funeral services, as needed. (Counseling?)
·      Work with other ministers and church board members in planning/providing leadership training to members.
·      Attend Board meetings and meet with church board as often as needed in addition to the regular meetings.
·      Be the leader of the entire congregation.
·      Proclaim the gospel from the pulpit and in personal evangelism.
·      Promote and participate in existing missions and outreach activities the church supports.
·      Have scheduled daily personal Bible study and prayer time.
·      Work with the Director of Music in planning worship services to reach the community.
·      Cast a vision for where the church should be going.
